ACNE
There are 5 recognised grades of acne. An acne treatment program will be geared up to your specific type and grade. The main types of acne are either due to hormonal imbalance, over production of oil (sometimes can just be poor quality oil) or under production of oil (dry lipid skin) causing blockage of the sebaceous outlet. Often an incorrect diagosis can lead to an exacerbation of the problem by using the wrong products or treatments.
A Skin Analysis will help to determine your grade and type of acne and will underpin the treatment plan which includes regular follow up so that a correct diagnosis can lead to a well managed skincare program. Some of the treatments that are helpful include Microdermabrasion and glycolic acid skin peels to smooth your skin and eliminate acne-causing bacteria.

JC from York wrote to me -

I just wanted to update you about my program. Everything is still improving - so much so that I have stopped wearing makeup altogether at the weekends!

Before coming to see you I had tried numerous products, regimes and treatments. Many of them very expensive. My trouble is that my skin is very oily but also very sensitive. It is easy to get stuck in a rut of exfoliate, inflammation, moisturise, congestion, exfoliate....

I have been so impressed by your advice. Most impressive is the fact that the regime you have recommended is very simple with minimal products and best of all, inexpensive. It's so hard to judge whether beauty counter products are really effective. Previously I would just change the brand when I got bored. Our regular consultations have convinced me that the only answer is to stick with one simple and effective routine which can be objectively assessed and modified.

OPEN OR BLOCKED PORES
The sebaceous oil can be viscous and slow moving creating oxidisation at the surface which shows as enlarged pores or ‘black heads’ These can be successfully extracted manually or by Microdermabrasion, a powerful exfoliation method using micro-crystals, clearing the skin of debris, unclogging the open or blocked pores. To help prevent the problem reocurring and to go back to it’s root cause find out about Skin Analysis to improve open or blocked pores long term.

SCARRING
With specialist scar reducing treatments, we can dramatically improve the appearance of scarred and pitted skin. We'll assess your scars and guide you to the right treatment for your skin. We have a host of skin-smoothing treatments to choose from including microdermabrasion, peels, laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels. Or if required we have a technition to undertake permanent scar camaflage which is medical tattooing, so there's simply no need to live with scars any longer.

ROSACEA
Rosacea evolves in stages, usually beginning as recurrent episodes of blushing, leading to persistent and fixed dark redness called erythema. This appears particularly on the central part of the face, the nose and cheeks often before the age of twenty. The rosacea may then progress into different progressive stages and appearances depending on the individual's genetic make-up, continued exposure to physical factors known to exacerbate the condition and the effects of age.
The cause of this condition, which is really a collection of different stages of the same abnormality, is still largely unknown, but appears to be inextricably linked to excessive sun exposure and the photo-damage that follows. It occurs more frequently in individuals with types I and II skin.

Neglected rosacea becomes chronically inflamed with poor lymphatic drainage and progressive thickening of the skin. Gradually the nose takes on a bulbous appearance and this unsightly condition is called rhinophyma, mistakenly thought to be due to heavy drinking.
The aims of treatment are to:

1. rid the skin of the inflammation that causes the redness,
2. reduce dilated blood vessels and
3. treat acne-like lesions
4. repair the injured elements of skin, mostly by building up the collagen and elastin
5. ultimately to prevent the recurrence of the condition.
Achieving these goals requires medical, skin- therapeutic and preventative treatments. A Skin Analysis is first advised to prepare the appropriate regime.

Thread Veins
Red veins are a common skin problem. On the face the causes range from too much sun to the hormonal changes of pregnancy. The solution is fast and simple. Advanced lasers target your problem areas with absolute precision to fade red veins and spider veins. Two to three laser skin treatments are usually enough to give you clear skin.
No need to keep your legs under wraps any more. Our advanced laser treatments for thread vein removal can remove fine and large leg veins quickly and effectively. Two or three thread vein treatments are usually enough to leave your legs smooth and blemish-free.

Pigmentation
All pigmentation in the skin is either hereditary or caused by hormones, UV exposure, trauma or a combination of these. Treatment depends on your pigmentation type and depth. This can be determined by an in-depth Skin Analysis The treatment might be the advanced IPL/Laser, a course of Peels or Microdermabrasion. Advice regarding prevention of recurrence will be discussed, book for a free consultation for advice.

Solar Lentigines (Age Spots)
On exposed skin, usually hands and face these can appear unsightly and cause concern as they are associated with older skin. The fastest simplest treatment is the IPL / Laser treatment. In just two to three treatments, sometimes less, the pigmentation is removed leaving the skin as it was before the pigment became visible. Other treatments included peels or skin lightening creams which could dramatically help to reduce or fade these pigmented areas. Come for a free consultation to get the right treatment for you.

Excessive / Unwanted Hair
Why live with unwanted hair? With permanent IPL/ laser hair removal, you can choose to enjoy smooth skin day after day - and say goodbye to waxing and shaving. IPL/ Laser hair treatment is the safe, long-term solution to unwanted or excess hair for men as well as women. Laser hair removal is suitable for most areas of the face and body. A course of laser hair treatments will leave your skin soft and smooth.

Eczema / Psoriasis
There is a definite genetic link between asthma, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, keratosis pilaris and rheumatoid arthritis. Local injury, stress, and cold climates all aggravate, as does essential fatty acid deficiency, poor fluid intake or high coffee / tea intake and dry climate. There are a number of stages of these conditions and categories, each of which can be improved by determining all the factors involved and then working on a plan to help reduce the condition. A Skin Analysis will guide you to your managed skincare plan and regular check up’s will help you to manage your condition long term.

Milia
Milia, seen as small white lumps just under the skin surface, can be removed quickly and easily by extraction. The procedure is minor and causes minor discomfort, however should you wish a topical anaesthetic can be used.
Milia are caused by a disorder of the epidermal bilayers and appears when the lipids become trapped between the layers of transforming skin cells. Poor alignment of the bilayers causes the epidermic lipid to accumulate into small balls. Essential fatty acid deficiency and a lack of free water can be aggravating factors. As are heavy weighted creams when used around the delicate eye area and zygomatic region.
